Ottawa CUPE District Council

Hello Fellow workers !

As you may have heard from your steward, or directly from the last union meeting our local has affiliated with the Ottawa CUPE District Council. Check out their website for more info and their facebook page to get connected.  The short of it is… an avenue to continue to broaden out connections with other locals in the Ottawa area, to support each other, and synchronize our efforts.

The details of the next meeting is below, all are welcome to attend.

*By-elections for two (2) table officers
*CUPE 2073 Canadian Hearing Society strike report-back
*Labour law reform and Fight for $15 & Fairness
*CUPE OD and National Conventions

Refreshments will be served.

June Spring Social and GMM / 2195 Shirts!

What better way to cap off a successful round of bargaining and ratification vote than with the spring social and General Meeting. Come out and join us on Wednesday June 7th at Tailgaters  (1642 Merivale, at the Merivale Mall) from 5:30 on (meeting starts at 6).

Please sign up here  to let us know if you are attending so we order enough food! An assortment of sandwiches and appetizers will be provided.

Members are encouraged to stay around after the meeting and socialize. Pool tables, Golf Simulators, Foosball, Ping Pong & Darts are available to play.

Additionally we had a new round of CUPE 2195 shirts made, with the new logo. We will be handing them out to those in attendance at the meeting. The shirts are a way we can show our unity and solidarity with each other and with those representing us. They are also a great way to connect with other locals in our community, or maybe wearing when supporting another locals picket line. The more we connect with other folks doing similar work to us the more unity and strength there can be in the community  when advocating for the work we do and the youth and families we support.

Collective Agreement Ratified

Great news! The collective agreement has been ratified. The new contract will be formally put together and distributed. Thank you to all the members who came out to vote.

If you have any questions or concerns please follow up with your steward. And as always if you want to be more involved, share your ideas, concerns, please come out to the next general membership meeting ! There will be food:)
